The Petoskey Area Garden Club hosted a dedication ceremony for the new Blue Star Memorial in Pennsylvania Park on 18 September 2014. The Blue Star Memorial is a program started in 1945 by the National Council of State Garden Clubs; "A tribute to the Armed Forces that have defended the United States of America". The dedication ceremony included a 21-gun salute with "Taps".

Personally, I found it rather sweet that at the base of the Blue Star Memorial
someone had placed a tiny little handmade memorial... a rock with a cross drawn on it.
