After WWI, veterans Fred Madden and F.L. Gransbury formed an auxiliary of the VFW titled Military Order of the Cootie. The uniform was based on one of the principle objectives of the Cootie auxiliary... "to have and provide fun for themselves and others." Cooties around the nation have provided many, and various, valuable activities and projects for the veterans of the USA.
