The Vietnam Veterans Memorial was set and dedicated on Veterans Day, 1983,
by the North American Chapter 68 Vietnam Veterans of America,
and by the people of northern Michigan through donations.

2.9 MILLION AMERICANS SERVED DURING THE
VIETNAM ERA TO PRESERVE THIS RIGHT. LIKE OUR
FOREFATHERS THEY SERVED THIS GREAT COUNTRY
WITH PRIDE AND DIGNITY . OVER 57,000 BRAVE
MEN AND WOMEN SACRIFICED THEIR LIVES FOR
THIS RIGHT TO FREEDOM. AMERICANS LIKE THESE
HAVE KEPT THIS COUNTRY FREE FOR OVER 200
YEARS. ALL THEY ASK IS TO BE WELCOMED HOME
AND TO REMEMBER THEM ALWAYS, FOR THEY
HAVE EARNED THE RESPECT AND ADMIRATION

Photo Below: Sadly, after the horrific wind/rain storms in a 24 hour timeframe on 18-19 July 2020 traveling through Petoskey cleanup crews had begun cleanup. The bent pole for the American Flag, and the downed OLD Black Walnut trees, were still to be addressed.
