Postcard above right from Miles Starr to his father Alva Franklin Starr: Postmarked: Great Lakes ILL. Aug 20 10AM 1941. Addressed to A.F. Starr CBM, Naval Hospital Phila. Pa. with Message... "Dear Pop, I'm on K.P. now from 4:30 A.M. to 7:30P.M. at nite so I haven't much time to wright [sic]. My Boot leave starts Sep 6 and I'm going as far as I can by boat. C. 119"

Charles "Chuck" A. Sherk's memorial is located in Clarion MI's Maple Hill Cemetery, right next to his son Michael Sherk who also served in the military, years after WWII. Another photo of Chuck is shown in the newspaper clippings above.
